Aliano, a sensory experience

Frantoio dei Calanchi is located in Aliano, a small village in the South of Italy, in Basilicata, the region of Matera, 2019 European Capital of Culture.

Surrounded by the lunar landscape of “calanchi” (badlands), it is an enchanting place for eyes and soul. Halfway between reality and magic, Carlo Levi has described Aliano in his memoir “Christ stopped at Eboli”.

The fertile soil, rich in nutrients, and the favourable climate for growing olive trees are the key factors for the Frantoio dei Calanchi to make a very high quality olive oil with great organoleptic properties.
